About J.L. Evans
Strong Women Behaving Badly, Mayhem Ensues
(Hello, author brand.)
As an author and lover of all things funny, nerdy, dark, and glittery, I am passionate about books in a way that startles some and endears myself to others.
I’ve studied the craft of writing at Lighthouse Writers Workshop in Denver, CO, including juried fiction workshops with Claire Messud and William Haywood Henderson. My work is inspired by over 2 decades as a physician caring for the seriously and terminally ill, as a clinical professor of medicine, and a physician-advocate for the queer community.
My debut novel, currently on submission to editors, uses the lens of dark humor to explore themes of resilience, grief, obsession, passion, and female rage, and was named a finalist for the 2024 Killer Nashville Claymore Award for Best Unpublished Thriller.
I live in Colorado with my blended family of husband, three adult-ish children, and more books, board games, notebooks, stickers, and fancy pens than should probably be allowed.
